FIREBIRD (wt) is a performance project exploring the coexistence of resistance and surrendering, rooted in deconstructed martial arts practices, woven in choreographic structures. Employing friction, collision, voice and rhythm, we investigate how an individual body can become a site of resistance, and how a meeting of bodies can generate solidarity and agency. The project is developed considering young(er) audiences and adult audiences who are young at heart, curious about raw, immersive and sensorial experiences. We wish to challenge how power is perceived, by cultivating a nuanced and layered approach to the notion of fight - beyond the binaries of masculine or feminine, negative or positive.

This work will be further developed in the coming two years by choreographer Yotam Peled in collaboration with performing artists Erin O’Reilly, Asuka Riedl and Elvina Pinto.
