Jail Time Records presents an immersive live performance that projects the public into one of Africa’s most notorious prisons. Jail Time uses artistic expression to reimagine the stigma around incarceration and provides a creative outlet for inmates and a pathway to reinsertion. By combining music, dance, spoken word poetry, theater, and visual effects, the performance confronts the public with the lived experiences of the formerly incarcerated artists and forces a reckoning with the conditions of incarceration. An original concept by Jail Time Records, with the creative direction of Steve Happi and Dione Roach in collaboration with choreographer Asuka Julia Riedl as part of Mirjam Gurtner and Ensemble.
